The best trick with kids is get them involved. You need to get down to their level show them you are silly like them. Maybe break the ice by asking everyone to pull a silly face with tongues out etc. Its all about having fun  . . . and that’s the key to getting some great pics. Sure you need the formal photos, but in the end it’s the funny shots that win every Mum and Dads hearts.

I think it’s so important to have professional photos of your children done as they grow and develop too quickly. Too many of us simply take photos and shove them on a hardrive. What’s going to happen in 20 to 30 years time? Where will that hard drive be?

It’s important to make albums, prints and canvas prints as a record rather than leaving images on disk. We should display our children as part of our day to day lives.

Family Portraits in your home, is a great natural environment where everyone feels relaxed. Infant photography is great done this way.  Another great spot when kids are older is the beach. I find everyone is relaxed here. The fresh air, the feeling of sand between your toes all helps make the shoot enjoyable for everyone.
