How to select a wedding photographer
Your wedding images will often be the only item to record your big special day, so it is worthwhile spending some time finding the right photographer for you.
It’s a good idea to shortlist 3 – 4 photographers via searching the internet, magazines and the like.
Next visit the photographer to get a feel for their style of work, personality and what they do and don’t include. Below is a list of questions to ask:
1. What does the package include?
How big are the proofs, how are they provided: in a presentation album, on disk, in a box
2. Images on Disk
Are these provided or how much extra are these? Have they been downsized or are they 300DPI (Dots per inch )
3. View a full wedding
Ask to see a full wedding not just the photographers best images.
4. Time frame
Is there a minimum set fee per hour. Ask the photographer to map out a time frame for the day
5.Meet the photographer
Make sure you get to meet the actual photographer on your wedding day
6. AIPP Member
Is the photographer a member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography or any other professional body
7. Awards
What awards has the photographer achieved
8. Camera Equipment
What systems does the photographer employ in case a camera fails or a flash card is faulty
9. After the wedding
How soon do you receive you images? What other services does the photographer provide? (framing, albums, collage, canvas prints)
